Looking for tent camping with electric hook up in a peaceful Cumbrian campsite setting? Our grass pitches with electric hook-up are a popular choice for campers, caravanners and camper van owners alike. Whether you’re passing through on a North West England road trip or setting up base to explore the Lake District and Carlisle, Camping at Cardewlees is a relaxed, family-run site that makes a great stop.
Our camping pitches with electric hook up on the grassy area of our camping site are most suitable for your tents. They are also available to caravans, motorhomes, and camper vans when the weather is decent. In wetter weather we recommend using our all weather pitches with hard standing.
Each of these pitches includes access to an electric hook-up point, giving you the option to enjoy a few extra comforts – whether that’s keeping your coolbox cold, keeping all the phones charged or plugging in your kettle for a quick brew.
One tent per pitch please – that’s a condition of our campsite licence.
Minimum 2-night stay in peak season and weekends throughout the year, and 3 nights on bank holidays.
If your stay doesn’t meet the usual minimum, don’t worry – it’s always worth giving us a ring to chat about your plans. We will try to accommodate you.
In wet weather, caravan and motorhome users may prefer to book a gravel bay – just ask us when you book.
Booking direct with us means you’re speaking to a real person – often one of the Glaister family who live and work here on the farm. We can offer a bit more flexibility, answer any questions you’ve got, and help you get the best from your stay.
It also means we don’t lose part of your booking fee to a third-party site – which helps us keep prices fair for everyone.
With a Few Extras
At our small family campsite near Carlisle, we’ve kept things simple – but not spartan. We’ve added a few touches to make your stay easier, including:
We’re proud to be one of the friendliest small campsites in Cumbria, with electric hook up. Camping at Cardewlees still has that proper camping feel – think open skies, fresh air, farm views, and maybe even the odd moo in the background. You’re just a couple of miles from Dalston village and 15 minutes from Carlisle, with easy road access but a real countryside atmosphere.
We welcome couples, families, small groups, and well-behaved dogs – and we’re happy to help you find the right pitch for your needs. So if you’re searching for a caravan site or touring site in Cumbria with a relaxed vibe and electric hook-up included, we think you’ll feel right at home here.
The walkers amongst you will need very little direction to take advantage of the Northern Fells around Keswick and Hesket Newmarket. There are a plethora of Wainwrights, and Skiddaw will be calling if you haven’t already ticked that Lakeland three thousander off.
For afficionados of beer, Hesket Newmarket has the Old Crown with locally brewed Hesket Brewery beer, while the Spinners Arms at Cummersdale – in walking distance – has Carlisle Brewery beers on tap and often has some cracking live music.
As a year round campsite, there is lots to do from winter hillwalking to productions at the Sands Centre or the Green Room Theatre.
Head to our booking app at the top of the page, to check availability of tent camping with electric hookup – or give us a call for a friendly camping chat. We’re happy to help you plan your stay.
