We didn’t design our pods to tick a brochure box.

Looking for dog-friendly glamping pods near Carlisle in Cumbria? Our pods at Camping at Cardewlees are designed for families, couples and groups who want countryside views, enclosed outdoor space and a break that feels outdoorsy without the faff.

We created them for people like us who love being outside but also appreciate the little things that make a stay easier. Think kids, dogs, muddy shoes, fresh air, changing weather and the joy of having a cosy space to come back to at the end of the day.

Because camping should feel fun, not hard work.

That’s why our glamping pods near Carlisle give you the best of both worlds: the freedom of an outdoor break in Cumbria, with a comfortable base, beautiful views and space to relax.

Glamping Pods with Countryside Views in Cumbria

The first thing people say when they arrive is usually some version of: “Oh wow.”

That’s the view.

Step outside your pod and you’re looking out onto open countryside. The kind of view that makes you slow down without even trying. It turns morning coffee into a moment, and it makes evenings feel like a reset.

If you want glamping in Cumbria with space, quiet, and that “we needed this” feeling, our pods are made for exactly that.

Enclosed Garden Pods: Built for Kids, Dogs, and Actual Relaxing

We added an enclosed garden to each pod because we’ve lived the chaos.

It means:

  • kids can play safely while you sit down for five minutes

  • dogs can sniff about without you doing constant head counts

  • you can eat outside, chat, relax, and not feel like you’re on duty the whole time

And here’s a proper behind-the-scenes detail that guests love: Johnny built the decking and fencing himself. Total labour of love… and it very nearly resulted in divorce.

Not because the work wasn’t brilliant (it is). Because me and the hubby do not work on the same timescale.

I’m “let’s crack on, we’ll be done by tea.”

He’s “I’m just measuring it again to be sure,” for three business days.

Worth it though. That enclosed space is the thing that makes pod stays feel easy.

Dog-Friendly Glamping Pods in Cumbria (Proper Dog Friendly)

If you’re looking for dog-friendly pods near Carlisle, we’ve got you.

We’re genuinely dog friendly because we holiday with dogs too. They aren’t “just pets,” they’re part of the gang. Our pods give you a warm, comfortable place to come back to after walks, adventures, and muddy missions.

Top tip: pack a towel. Cumbrian mud is committed. Oh and Carrock Pod has the biggest garden and is furthest away from the campsite so great for pooches that need a little distance from the hustle and bustle of the campsite.

Have a look at this video that was kindly made for us by our friends Rover the Goldie 🦮

Pods for Couples, Families, and Social Weekends with Friends

Here’s where our pods really earn their keep: they’re not only for quiet getaways. They’re also brilliant for social gatherings.

Want a proper weekend with your mates? Take all three pods.

You’ll wake up, open the door, and start the day shouting “Morning neighbours!” across your little pod village. Kids leg it out first, dogs follow, and before anyone’s properly awake you’re outside with coffees and plans for the day.

It’s the kind of stay that feels like a gathering without needing a big venue, a timetable, or any stress.

Glamp + Camp Together: Camp Bed Space and a Small Tent Option

We’ve built the pods to be flexible, because not every family holidays the same way.

There’s room for a camp bed inside the pod, and we’ve even been known to let campers put a small tent in the enclosed garden.

So if you want to glamp, but the kids want to camp, it’s simple:

  • parents sleep comfortably in the pod

  • kids get their “proper camping” fix in a little tent

  • everyone stays together, and nobody has to compromise

If you’ve got a mixed group—some who want comfort, some who love canvas—our pods are a very happy middle ground.

The garden of Skiddaw pod adjoins the main campsite.  So if you have friends on the main field this would be the best pod to book.

In the middle is High Pike Pod and then Carrock Pod furthest away from the campsite.

What’s Included: Bedding Options

To keep things flexible (and keep pod prices fair), bedding isn’t included in the standard cost.

You’re welcome to bring your own. Or, if you’d rather not pack the whole airing cupboard, you can add bedding as an optional extra at the time of booking.  Or pop us an email if you want to add it on later.

Easy.

But every pod does come with a fridge, kettle, toaster, microwave and a sink with hot and cold running water.

Oh and for those visiting in winter they all also come with a heater and we have been told time and time again how toasty warm they are even in the coldest of winter nights.

Where You’ll Sleep, Wee, and Wonder Why You Don’t Do This More Often

Skiddaw Pod and Carrock Pod share exactly the same layout with two single beds that can be transformed into a super king bed with the use of an insert.  High Pike is slightly different having a double bed that can be split into two single beds and a single futon!

High Pike pod is actually half a meter wider as well, so great if you need a little more floor space.

Now you know where you will sleep, it’s probably about time that we addressed where the other essential thing will happen 😂

The three pods share a communal toilet block that is used exclusively by the pods.  It is only situated twenty meters from the pods so no late night walks are needed for the essentials!
